Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit NACCRRA's Parent Central. The short explanation of this alert was: Better training for child care providers often correlates with higher quality child care. However, only 12 out of 50 states require child care center-based providers to have any training in early childhood development before working with children—in fact, they don’t even require pre-service fire safety, child abuse prevention and CPR training. Even fewer (10 states) require providers in small family child care homes to complete pre-service training in early childhood development. According to NACCRRA’s National Survey of Child Care Resource & Referral Training, CCR&Rs currently train over 500,000 child care providers each year, and, in fact, could lead the country in creating a system of training and professional development for child care providers. But, CCR&Rs need funding and support to make it happen! And training regulations have to be stronger to keep children safe. Contact your Senators and Representatives to tell them to reauthorize CCDBG in the 111th Congress and require states to set minimum initial and ongoing training requirements for child care providers. Be sure to add details about your experience in CCR&R, as a child care provider, or as a parent. If you would like to view details on this alert, please visit here. |
